Today I visited the new Pokémon Center Osaka DX. A brand new Pokémon store opened on September 20, 2019. This is also the grand opening of Daimaru Shinsaibashi main building. In this post, I’ll share my experience with this new store with lots of product pictures.
Daimaru Shinsaibashi Grand Opening
The new store is located on the 9th floor of the Daimaru Main Building at Shinsaibashi shopping center. More accurately, at the Shinsaibashi-suji district. This is the busiest shopping district in Osaka. I’ve already visited the other Pokémon store in Daimaru Umeda (13F).
Daimaru main building location: 1 Chome-7-1 Shinsaibashisuji, Chuo Ward, Osaka.
Today was the official opening of the store. Yesterday was closed for the general public, and you needed an invitation to enter. So today, I came back to see the store like everyone else.
It wasn’t just the date of the opening of the store, but the grand opening of Daimaru Shinsaibashi main building. This means, all the stores are new and I was excited to explore the entire place, but the Pokémon Center was the main reason I came.
I came an hour before, and already many people were waiting in line.
New Pokémon Store at the 9th Floor
After an hour, at exactly 15:00, they let us in. I thought that in a few minutes I’ll be in the store, but no. You now need to wait in another queue. They let people in groups, depends on how many are at the store concurrently.
Finally, it was time. As we walk towards another line, we saw two people wearing super adorable Pikachu costumes. I wanted to give them a hug, but I maintained myself. What an amazing welcoming show to put out for all the visitors – just WOW!
Here are some more photos of those super cute Pikachus.
Entering the Pokémon Center Osaka DX
After a few minutes in a very ordered control by the local staff, we granted entry to the store. This new store looks incredible. I think that it’s larger than the store in Umeda. One thing for sure, it packs so much more stock. It’s relatively narrow, but everywhere you look there are Pokémon stuff to buy.
At the front, you are greeted by three large statues of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. For those who don’t know, these are legendary bird Pokémon from the games.
Here are some more photos of the other Pokémon statues, Articuno and Moltres.
Shopping for Pokémon-related Products
There are so many products in the store, including but not limited to Pokémon figures, food, pencils, bags, clothing items, stickers, mobile phone covers, key holders, Pokémon balls, pens, trading card games, costumes, and much more. However, the emphasis seems to be on Pokémon figures, as the selection is truly impressive.
The store was packed with people. People were loading up their bags with Pokemon products like there is no tomorrow. I mean, I saw one girl who had two large bags packed with Pokémon figures. Generally, you don’t see such a long line, but this was the official opening. The line was so long, it started almost from one end of the store to the other.
Nevertheless, that didn’t stop me from spending a lot of time inside. Firstly, I wanted to see what all the type of products that this store has. Secondly, I’ve searched for a product that my niece might like. Thirdly, I was taking pictures of those products so I can review the store and share it with you.
Pokémon Products Photo Gallery
Here are some photos I took of some of the products available in the Pokémon Center OSAKA DX store.
As you can see, tons of vivid products that will satisfy your craving for new Pokemon products. By the way, I’ve heard that there are some products that are only available in this particular store and nowhere else.
The golden Pokémon figure that you see in the image gallery, I think it’s unique to this store, but I am not sure. I’ve seen a sign that it’s limited to 5-pieces per person. In any case, if you are searching for new Pokémon products that you don’t have, you might want to check out this store.
There is also a little 24-karat gold pokemon figure at the center of the store.
Heaven for Pokémon Fans
The Pokémon Center Osaka DX is a beautifully designed store. It’s much more attractive in my opinion than the store in Umeda in terms of product variety. However, one thing makes the store in Umeda more interesting. In the Umeda store, you have Pokémon arcade machines and a space to play Pokémon card games. If you take all that space into account, it’s a larger place than this one. That being said, there is a Pokémon cafe a few meters from there. I’ll talk about that in a moment.
This store is heaven on earth for Pokémon fans. I can understand why people packed so many things. There are probably many new items that were designed for the official opening of the store. Aside from that, the selection is huge. I think people can find many different products, that otherwise existed in Pokémon stores in Tokyo or other areas.
From what I’ve searched, this is the second Pokémon Center in Osaka, and there aren’t any others in the city.
Pokémon Center OSAKA DX is among those places where you enjoy getting lost. A place where you can spend more than an hour easily, just browsing through all the products and find something you like. Even if you don’t buy anything, as a fan, this is a must-visit place.
The Pokémon store is one place. But close to it there is a Pokémon cafe. Yes, a Pokémon place where you can sit, order drinks with Pokémon figures around you. Now, I wasn’t able to get in because it requires a reservation, probably through the official website.
However, I plan to go there again to get a closer look at the place. This is a nice secondary attraction to check out after you finish shopping at the store. It will be interesting to check it out. I was very curious, maybe they have some coffee with Pokémon-like milk shapes or styled cups. Well, I need to visit this place, but overall, just know that this place is right beside the store.
Pokémon Interactive Touch Screen
Honestly, as of the time of writing this review of the store, I have no idea what this screen does. That screen that you see in the image below is kind of a browser. It’s a touchscreen that you can tap, swipe and choose a Pokémon figure. A kid tapped one, swiped and got something. I think it’s kind of a prize game, but I am not sure.
I don’t know if those visuals are projects on the glass or it’s just a touch screen. It looked incredible, beautiful 3-dimensional presentation. I wanted to try it, but I was already outside so I didn’t get a chance. Maybe next time.
Pokémon Center Osaka DX is a fabulous place that any Pokémon fan must visit. Although I don’t see myself as a big fan like many other people, I enjoyed this place so much!
The store is elegantly designed. I did find it a bit too narrow, but that’s because it was on an opening day. So there were many people, and it felt very crowded. On a regular day, it won’t feel like that.
The store has tons of Pokémon-related products. Those products are vibrant and colorful and give the store a wonderful look. The lighting is just perfect, comfortable but not too bright.
Having such large selection of products ensures that you’ll find something that you’ll like to purchase for yourself or for someone you know. There is also the Pokémon Cafe which is a nice addition, which I plan to check and review in the upcoming days.
Overall, a must-visit place in Osaka, Japan. If you are already there, you can also check out all the other amazing stores. The 10th floor is where the restaurants reside. So you can just go up one floor using the escalator and take a break.
I’ll share more in future posts. Thanks for reading.
